Okay, it might sound like a vacation – we admit it! But choosing Bali as the setting for our onboarding had work-related reasons, as we were on the hunt for skilled SAP BTP developers. That’s when we found Anggiet, Andreas, and Bayu. These three Indonesian developers are a fantastic addition to the Kumulon team, helping us make our solutions better and faster.
Remote work has become the norm, especially in digital fields like software development. Still, we believe that working well together requires a personal connection. Meeting face-to-face, building trust, and sharing a handshake are all important. After interviewing several candidates, we chose Anggiet, Andreas, and Bayu. Luckily, the chemistry felt right on both sides.
From our office in Minden (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany), our managing partners Tobias and Daniel traveled to Bali for two weeks to facilitate a meaningful team introduction. Following an introduction to our solutions, we had in-depth discussions on goals, approaches, and technical possibilities – and it was well worth it! When people enjoy their work, conversations around innovative topics naturally dive deeper.
Of course, onboarding shouldn’t be all about work, so our travel and adventure enthusiast Daniel had some action-packed activities lined up. We hit the rapids on a mountain river for a white-water rafting adventure. Here too, the onboarding was a success – no one fell out of the boat 😊. Everyone paddled safely to the finish with a good dose of adrenaline.
Overall, it was a fantastic two weeks, and we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Anggiet, Andreas, and Bayu for taking the time to be part of it. This won’t be our last in-person team meeting. We’re looking forward to our next trip to Indonesia!
